Preparing for implantation
As every operation, tooth implantation has certain – albeit very low – risks. Minimising the risk factors is very important and requires cooperation by the patient.
We suggest that you should consult your family doctor who knows your state of health. It is also important that you inform your dental surgeon of any illness or regularly taken medication. Remember to mention any allergy to medications or other substances.
If you are suitable for tooth implantation, observe the following three rules before the operation:
- Do not come with an empty stomach; eat as usual before the appointment.
- Take any regular mediation in time, except anti-coagulant drugs (aspirin derivatives), the dosage of which must be decreased as agreed with your doctor.
- Bring a friend or relative if possible because driving is not advisable after the operation due to the doping effect of local anaesthesia.
